Etymogically, Philosophy is the combination of the two words – ‘Philos’ and ‘Sophia’, which means “striving after wisdom” or “love of knowledge”. Philosophy in general is the methodical work of thought.
Philosophy is called Dars’ana which means vision. It is the vision of the reality as a whole. It is an insight into the nature of the whole reality.
The subject Philosophy has been included in the regular degree course since the inception of the college i.e. 8TH August, 1968. From 2006, Honours Course were introduced and from then both Hons. and General course are running simultaneously.
The department has two sanctioned posts. At present, these two post are holding by two full time teachers and there are three SACT teachers and two Visiting Faculties in the department.
