Department of Music

The Department of Music started its journey in 2011 with a general course in Music. Due to satisfactory results and continuous demand from students, the course was upgraded to a general level in the same year. Music is established as a scientific fine art with evolutionary development. It is a very important subject among the three performing arts: music, dance, and drama. It has various aspects including:

• Stage performance, programming on television, programming on radio, and live performance on various types of social media like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Double, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, Mela, and ReverbNation, to enrich the music industry and for the entertainment of the public and self.
• Teaching in schools, colleges, and universities.
• Music therapy in medical science.
• Opportunities for research.

It is one of the enriched departments of the college, with a department library containing more than 100 books. Seminars are conducted by the department. The teachers in this department are engaged in various programs, performances, and social work.

Program Details

Note: General students have to take any one subject from DSC-I and any two subjects from DSC-II and Generic. The general degree will be awarded based on the subject chosen in DSC-I.

Facilities Available in the Department of Music

• The Department has 2 changer Harmoniums, 3 sets of bayan tabla, 2 esraj, gypsy maracas mandira, 2 manual Tanpuras and electronic tanpuras, berides, and a sound system.
• Our department has a music-friendly atmosphere.
• The Department organizes 1 or 2 certificate courses per year and produces certificates for all students at the end of the course.
• The Department organizes Memorial Day, Rabindranath’s Birthday, Basanta Udsab, etc.
• Wi-Fi facilities are provided to both teachers and students.
• Apart from 75 books in the department library, we have more than 356 books on music in our college library.
• We, the teachers of the department, are devoted and dedicated to the progress and prosperity of the department and students.
