MISSION:

• Motivate students about learning the subject and guide them for having strong foundation towards the subject.
• Guide students towards higher education in Mathematics.
• Provide the opportunity for the student to participate in research projects, summer and winter internships, seminars, workshops, conferences in various Universities and Institutions.
• Prepare students for entrance exam like JAM, NBHM, TIFR, IISC, CMI etc. for Masters and Integrated Ph.D programme in reputed Universities and Institutions.
• Start Masters programme in near future.
• Engage in quality research and develop collaborative research with other Colleges, Universities and Institutions.
• Organize seminars, workshops, conferences in department at regular intervals.
• Organize outreach activities for school students and B.Sc. students.
• Increase collection of standard Mathematical books and journals in our
  College library and departmental library.
• Active engagement for research projects funded by NBHM, DST, CSIR, UGC etc.

On successful completion of their studies here, students will

Welcome to the Department of Mathematics, Egra Sarada Shashi Bhusan College affiliated under Vidyasagar University. The Department of Mathematics is one of the oldest department in our College offering Honours course since 2006 and General course since 2005. The department is financially supported by DBT Star College scheme under Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, since 2022. Currently, we have six faculty members in our department and they specialize in various areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics. At present, the department is offering B.Sc. and Ph.D program in Mathematics.The department is dedicated to building a strong foundation, advancing knowledge and promoting the beauty of Mathematics. The department aims to nurture students for learning Mathematics and approaching towards a career based on Mathematical Science.  The department provides ICT-based classrooms along with one computer lab  for students. There is a vast collection of Mathematical books in our College library and departmental library which is accessible for all UG students, research scholars and faculty members.  Additionally, many meritorious students from the department have demonstrated their academic abilities in various Indian and International Universities and Research Institutions.
