Right to Information Act
Introduction:The Right to Information Act, 2005 (RTI Act-2005) has been enacted by the Parliament and has come into force from 15th June, 2005. The Act provides the right to information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities that promotes transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority. All University and Colleges established by law made by the parliament or by State Legislature or by the notification of appropriate Govt. authority or controlled or substantially financed directly or indirectly by funds provided by the Govt. shall come within the purview of Public Authority under this Act. As per the directive of the Dept. of Higher Education, Govt. of West Bengal and UGC Guidelines Egra Sarada Shashi Bhusan College implemented the Right to Information Act-2005. As per the resolution taken in the GB meeting no. 10, Agenda No. 10, dated 14/06/2012, the college appointed Prof. Dipak Bisai as the Public Information Officer.
Application Procedure:- The application may be typed or legibly hand-written wherein to be mentioned "Application under RTI Act 2005" atop.
- There is no such prescribed proforma for application.
- Application will not be rejected on the ground that they are not in any prescribed format.
- The application may be written in English or Bengali and the language be simple and easily understandable.
- Application is to be simply addressed to the "Public Information officer" (Don't mention the name).
- Questions are to be raised directly and point-wise. No vague question is to be raised.
- Technical terms or legal terminology is to be avoided in this regard
- Govt. RTI fee in the form of IPO / DD etc. as applicable with RTI applications is to be attached.
- At the end of the application a declaration of Indian citizenship of the applicant is to be made mandatorily.
