Biography

Dr. Sudipta Kumar Ghorai, an Associate Professor in the Department of Zoology at Egra Sarada Shashi Bhusan College, embodies academic brilliance and a deep passion for understanding the secrets of coastal ecosystems. His journey began with academic excellence, marked by First Class First achievements at both UG and PG levels, earning him coveted Gold Medals. Driven by a thirst for knowledge, he further pursued an MPhil in Environmental Science from the University of Kalyani in 2005. His doctoral research at the Department of Zoology in Vidyasagar University delved into the intricate world of coastal bioresources. To further refine his expertise, he embarked on a postdoctoral fellowship at IISER Kolkata as a DST TARE Fellow.

Dr. Ghorai's dedication to research is evident in his impressive body of work. He has authored 22 papers in esteemed journals and contributed to 4 book chapters, sharing his insights on the integrated taxonomy and potential of coastal bioresources. His passion extends beyond publications, as he has actively organized 17 seminars and workshops, fostering knowledge exchange and inspiring future generations.

With 17 years of experience teaching UG students and 7 years at the PG level, Dr. Ghorai is a skilled and dedicated educator. His expertise transcends the classroom, as he serves as the coordinator of the Coastal Environmental Studies Research Centre at his college. He actively contributes to environmental conservation by serving as the secretary of the Biodiversity Management Committee of Egra Municipality and the West Bengal Biodiversity Board.

Dr. Ghorai's research interests lie in the realm of integrated taxonomy, where he meticulously unravels the classification and identification of coastal bioresources. This knowledge isn't merely academic; it fuels his quest to unlock the biotic potential of these resources, seeking sustainable solutions for the future.
