Biography

Debasish Dasmahapatra serves as a State Aided College Teacher-I at Egra S.S.B. College in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, a position he has held since October 27, 2014. He possesses over 12 years of experience in undergraduate teaching and more than 4 years in research. Currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D. and has successfully passed the West Bengal State Eligibility Test (WBSET). His teaching and academic interests encompass a broad spectrum of geographical disciplines, including Geotectonics and Geomorphology, Climatology, Statistical Methods in Geography, Environmental Geography, Field Work and Research Methodology, Geographical Thought, Disaster Management, Social and Cultural Geography, Population Geography, Soil and Biogeography, and Remote Sensing & GIS. His specific academic focus is on coastal geography, environmental management, sustainable tourism, geomorphology, urbanization, land-use change, and disaster-related issues. Dasmahapatra has participated in numerous national and international seminars, conferences, and webinars on topics such as environmental change, climate change, sustainable development, ecosystem restoration, coastal environmental management, and multidisciplinary research. He has also presented research on urbanization in West Bengal, coastal zone management, sustainable tourism in the Digha-Sankarpur coastal area, and the development of coastal resources and ecotourism in the Medinipur coastal belt. His research articles, published in peer-reviewed journals, address themes such as urbanization, urban road-network patterns, coastal geomorphology, sustainable tourism, tropical cyclones, population growth, and evolving land-use patterns in coastal West Bengal. His publications include analyses of the Egra Municipality, Puri Coast, Digha-Sankarpur coastal area, Bangladesh coast, Purba Medinipur, and the coastal regions of West Bengal.
