The Department of Geography, Egra S.S.B. College was founded in 2001 under the able academic environment. First six years it has run with only general course. The Honours course has been introduced in 2006-2007 academic session. At present intake capacity of the students in undergraduate level has gone up to 33. One Assistant Professor, two Part time teacher and four contractual guest lecturer and two laboratory attendants are imparting academic instruction to the students. The faculties of this Department have been completed the under graduate level syllabus in time and the Department have been arranged Field study cum Excursion in every year for the Departmental students. Many academic activities like outdoor classes, field observation, practical sessions, and wall magazine eminent lecture have been under taking by the Department through the academic year. To cater the needs of the students and teachers, the Department has its own seminar library containing more Books. The students of this Department also avail the college central library for lending Books and Journals. Three laboratories have been well equipped by required instruments and modern teaching aids. Noticeably, all three laboratories fully accommodate as digital class room also. In order to keep pace with the emerging demand of the students, some master programme with academic performance has been carried out by the faculty as needed. Many students among the Department have got chance to register them at Vidyasagar University through merit as well as by entrance.
